From 1889 to 1891 Gordyaghin got a professor's scholarship at the Botany Department of Kazan University. In March 1891 he was given a title of privat-docent (unestablished university lecturer) and since the autumn of the same year he gave practical classes on system classification of seed plants. At the same time from 1891 to 1898 he was a museum supervisor of Botany Study.

Since 1897 he had been giving lectures on anatomy and physiology of plants. During the period from 1892 to 1901 in summer months Andrey Yakovlevich used to do botanical and geographical researches in the Middle Urals and Western Siberia. His work resulted in dissertation "Materials for Soils Studies and Plants of Western Siberia", which he defended at Kazan University in May 1901 and got the degree of Botany Doctor (not having Master's Degree) and N.M.Przhevalsky Silver medal of Russian Geography Society.

V.I.Baranov was not only botany scientist of wide range, but also a man of letters and painter. Having finished gymnasia in 1909 in Kazan, Vladimir Isaakovich entered the Natural Science Department of Kazan University Faculty of Physics and Math. After graduating from the University in 1913 he was represented by Professor V.V.Lepyoshkin to work as a laboratory assistant and later on lecturer assistant of the Department.

In 1930-1931 being invited by the Academy of Sciences of the USSR Vladimir Isaakovich headed the soil-agrochemical detachment of expedition which studied natural resources of Mongolia. The researches covered the region of more than 16,400 square meters on the territory of Western Mongolia.

Mikhail V. Markov, Doctor of Biology, professor, Honored Science Worker of Tatar ASSR, Honorary member of Russian Botany Society, headed the Kazan Geobotany School for many years.

M.V.Markov always successfully combined education and teaching, scientific and administrative work. His researches made a great contribution to studies of Eastern flora of European Russia.

He developed the ideas of founders of Kazan Geobotany School, established and headed new fields of Geobotany.
